Pentecostal Sunday May 28,2023
We are commemorating two important events this weekend. This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday and Monday is Memorial Day. We should be very thankful for those who gave their lives for us all to live in a free country. We also as christians should be very thankful for Jesus dying for us and sending the Holy Spirit to free us from the works of the devil.
We Christians most of all should realize how important the Holy Spirit is in our life. Too many Christians are lukewarm, lacking in their love and commitment to Jesus Christ. Many are not attending church regularly, or reading their bibles nor witnessing for Jesus to those around them.
The reason for this lack of commitment and zeal for Christ is because many are neglecting the gift of the Holy Spirit given to the church.
Hear the words of our Lord in…
Acts 1:7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Jesus had to die on the cross for our sins…then be buried, be raised and go away back to His Father. So He could send the Holy Spirit!
John 16:7-11 (KJV) 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
John 16:13-15 (KJV) 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew [it] unto you.
15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew [it] unto you.
Have you received the Holy Spirit since you have believed?
We need the Holy Spirit be born again of God. We need him to be saved from sin and a devil’s hell. We need Him to live the christian life. We need Him to receive power to witness Christ to a lost world around us.
Let’s all go to our home church this Sunday and expect another out filling of the Holy Spirit into our life again. We need the Holy Spirit in us and upon us continually until Jesus returns for His Church.
We all need continued power to go for God until Jesus comes or calls us to our home in Heaven. If was with great love that Jesus sacrificed himself for us to receive the Holy Spirit. May we all with great love for Christ be receptive to receive the Holy Spirit and continually be fill with Him for our continued Christian service.
Blessings and Love to Everyone!
